Settlement Support
Settlement
support
Our settlement team helps people who have recently arrived in Australia to settle into their new life. We especially help people who speak English as a second language to find and use community services so that they can become independent.
Activities include casework, information and referral, advocacy, group work, and one-on-one volunteer support.
We can work with you on the following issues:
- employment
- housing
- education and training
- English language
- using the Australian
- health system
- family support
- social connection
- transport
- legal issues and systems
- participating in our Australian democracy
Settlement funding is focused on supporting permanent residents who have been in Australia for less than five years, who arrived as:
- humanitarian entrants
- family stream migrants with low English proficiency
- holders of family and partner visas
- dependent family members of skilled migrants
- some temporary visa holders, including partner visas and dependent family members of some skilled migrants.
