Settlement Support

Settlement
support

Our settlement team helps people who have recently arrived in Australia to settle into their new life. We especially help people who speak English as a second language to find and use community services so that they can become independent.

Activities include casework, information and referral, advocacy, group work, and one-on-one volunteer support.

We can work with you on the following issues:

  • employment
  • housing
  • education and training
  • English language
  • using the Australian
  • health system
  • family support
  • social connection
  • transport
  • legal issues and systems
  • participating in our Australian democracy

Settlement funding is focused on supporting permanent residents who have been in Australia for less than five years, who arrived as:

  • humanitarian entrants
  • family stream migrants with low English proficiency
  • holders of family and partner visas
  • dependent family members of skilled migrants
  • some temporary visa holders, including partner visas and dependent family members of some skilled migrants.
