Multicultural
Family Support

Our Multicultural Families team provides specialised support for families with children from 0 to 18 years old who are facing problems that affect their ability to care for their children.

The problems that families may be struggling with include isolation, poor mental health, substance abuse, family violence, parenting in a cross-cultural environment and special needs of children. The support that we offer can take the form of information and referral, casework, or parenting programs.

Playing Around

playgroups

Playing Around the World provides safe environments for multicultural families to support their children’s development, build social networks, and engage with the wider community. We also help to break down isolation, improve the mental health of children and parents, and support parents to learn about a range of issues relevant to raising children in Australia. Our playgroups are open to all families, regardless of their cultural background. We also offer Russian and Spanish speaking groups.

Information
sessions & Referrals

We offer information sessions on a range of topics, such as child development, parenting skills and Australian culture. These sessions are designed to help parents to understand their children’s needs and to make informed decisions about their children’s care. We can also provide referrals to multicultural families to help them find the services they need, such as childcare, healthcare and legal assistance.

Family Case Work

We offer family casework services to families who are experiencing difficulty. We can help them resolve their problems and develop a plan for the future. We also support families around issues that arise, including delivering elements of evidence-based parenting programs in the context of casework.
